Children
“The most important problems in life can never be solved, only outgrown.” -Carl Jung
No matter what challenges children face, we seek ways to transform these into opportunities to develop and thrive.
Nature + Nurture:
Together, we build on child strengths, identify and overcome obstacles and create improved conditions to nurture development and wellbeing in the long run.
Brains are built over time from the bottom up.
From birth through the teen years genes and experience interact in cycles of experience among child-caregivers-community shaping brain architecture to lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning, social connection and health. This is not a linear process. It is easier to intervene early to rewire toward healthy patterns while the brain is taking shape.
Optimal child development is rooted in secure attachment bonds. Children (and adults too!) need to be:
Seen - sensing beyond their behavior to understand unmet needs, positive intent and developmental needs.
Safe - knowing powerful adults are on their side, won’t seek to control through intimidation or hurt, open to not always knowing and sorting things out together.
Soothed - older, wiser, more capable adults can ride the waves of emotional energy and help kids cope with difficult emotions and situations.
Secure - develop a sense of themselves as fundamentally good, whole and instill a sense of belonging, never left overwhelmed or alone.
